Blood Tests
When I fill in the questionnaire is it confidential?
Yes absolutely.
What are the blood tests for?
Laboratory based blood tests are included in some of our assessments. Our standard blood test profile includes: testing for different types of cholesterol, triglyceride (fat), glucose, kidney and liver function, haemoglobin and thyroid function (for women over 45 years old) and PSA (prostate specific antigen) in men over 45 years.
I'm out of shape at the moment, should I be tested after I start trying to get fit?
Now is the time to be tested. The report you receive will give you guidelines for exercise and lifestyle changes and a base line for improvement.
Results
Are you able to send results to my General Practitioner?
Yes a summary of all your data may be sent to your doctor if you request it.
Will my employer see my evaluation results?
No, your results are totally confidential.
Assessments
How long does the assessment take?
It takes between 20 minutes to 2 hours depending on the programme chosen.
Who should have a health assessment?
Anyone who is interested in understanding their current health status. It makes individuals aware of the health needs and lifestyle practices that determine personal well-being. Emphasis is on the factors we can actually control. Positive reinforcement of good health practices, along with recommendations for change when needed, is made for each major health area.
If I have a cold shall I come?
Yes, if you have a mild cold this should not affect your results.
I have a bad back so should I come?
Yes a bad back will not affect your basic evaluation. We will omit any test that will affect your back.
Can I eat before my assessment?
Yes, but we advise you to eat a light meal so you will be more comfortable with the fitness test.
How do your assessments differ to a medical with my GP?
The assessment done at Life Clinic covers areas that your GP may not cover. We aim to deduct health issues, before they become issues, whereas often GP consultations arrise due to symptoms/problems you may be experiencing. Our assessment looks at you holistically, taking into account physical, mental, and social aspects.
What is the testing based on?

At what age should one start having health assessments?
The programme caters for ages 18-80. A shorter programme is available for younger people.
